BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Intercultural Mural in the public, inhabited space.
What we call the INTERCULTURAL MURAL consists of on action that is developed during the time the promoting entity has considered, maybe one to three days. As well the “given” time frame should depend on the dimension (size en m²) that you want to install the mural. Normally this would be a series of canvas , with a size of one metre by one metre, that will be set up horizontally in the most convenient place: Public places, streets, etc. In that way it will have a visual impact for its lengths.
For the citizens you need to provide artistic material, such as brushes and acrylics. As an initial aid, we paint the three geometric basic models: square, circle and triangle.
The monitoring artists give artistically advice and are responsible for the technical coordination and to animate and encourage the people that they are painting and therefore forming the outer appearance of the canvas. Thus, the canvas will reflect in each of its geometric shapes the ideas, concepts and claims in a graphic and coloured way.
The complicity of the collective creation permits to create a lot of canvas with intense and spontaneous emotions without hurting and at the same moment respecting “the Other”. In this basic space of the canvas we can be honest with our own volition to create.
In the time of a whole day, from the morning until the evening, in-between debates, reflections and discussions, with the participation of all the people that are strolling around this place, the opus is under construction. Every person with his/her brushes, colours is constructing his/her own participating and collective opus.
This activity covers a big signification in a moment, where a society that receives immigrants, tourists and natives are participating in this encounter of colours.
The final product: You obtain a collective opus that consists of several paintings of an abstract and diverse concept.
